A Childhood Under the Stars: My Thoughts on Aliens and the Universe
When I was a child, I used to go up to my grandfather’s terrace with a bedsheet, lie down, and stare at the vast night sky filled with countless stars and planets. I would wonder what lay beyond, whether there was life somewhere else in the universe, and if anyone out there was watching us the same way I was watching the stars.
Lying there under the infinite sky, I would often imagine the existence of aliens. The mystery of extraterrestrial life fascinated me, and my curiosity deepened when I read about Area 51 in the United States in a Reader’s Digest article. It intrigued me to think that the government might be hiding something extraordinary, fueling countless conspiracy theories.
As I grew older and read more books on the subject, my perspective evolved. Today, I lean towards believing that aliens may not exist — at least, not in the way we imagine. If they did, wouldn’t we have already seen some undeniable evidence? So far, all we have are speculations, assumptions, and stories. Scientists argue that while there are billions of stars, many are twin stars or part of systems that make it nearly impossible to support life as we know it. Despite all our efforts, we have yet to find the perfect conditions that could sustain alien life, though we have come close in our search.
One idea that has fascinated me in recent years is the theory that ancient gods might have been aliens. I stumbled upon this through videos on social media, where some suggest that myths and religious stories are actually descriptions of extraterrestrial beings visiting Earth in the past. While this theory is intriguing, it remains just that — a theory.
The universe itself is a marvel. Every celestial body moves uniquely, every orbit around the sun is slightly different each time, and life as we know it is incredibly rare and precious. Could intelligent life be something that happened only once, a phenomenon exclusive to Earth? Or is there something out there, waiting to be discovered? The thought of finding evidence of extraterrestrial life excites me, but until then, I continue to marvel at the mystery of existence, just as I did as a child lying under the stars.
What do you believe? Are we truly alone, or is there someone else out there?
